Bryan's Christmas








Bryan is an old pro at this now - but he is still as bright - eyed and expectant as ever. I love watching him read the letter that Santa leaves him every year. He feels so special at that moments and you can see it in his face as he reads the letter out loud to the whole family. He also becomes this sweet, helpful brother to Joshua. It's kinda funny to watch since it throws Joshua for a bit of a loop. For the past 2 years now we have been taking Bryan to Target so he can buy presents for everyone on his own. It is adorable watching him agonize over his choices and listening to the reasoning behind them. He takes them home and very carefully, he uses a mound of wrapping paper to wrap each of the gifts himself. On Christmas morning he can't wait to pass them out and often wants to do that and watch the unwrapping before opening one of his own gifts. I am hoping to teach him the joy of giving and rein in on that little boy "gimme, gimme" thing. So far, so good (although we still need a little work during the rest of the year).

Snow Flakes in TX

We woke up this morning to fluffy, white snow everywhere. The biggest snowflakes I've ever seen were falling from the heavens. It is just beautiful out there. Have I ever mentioned how much I love my house?? This shot totally cracks me up - Joshua on the receiving end of a massive snow ball from his big brother!! Joshua stuffing what's left of our broken flag pole... Just playing it cool until he could sneak up behind Bryan with that snowball. Not entirely sure, but I think he was taste testing that snow... Blogging for Scrapbookers

I'm taking my first online class from http://www.shimelle.com/ . Although, I've been blogging since the end of 2006, I think there is definite room for improvement. I'm not the most consistent person in the world (and boy, do I wish that was the case) and I'm not the most articulate either... There are a few things I hope to get out of this class: Some tips and tricks on blog design (I have already benefited in this department) Some friendly reminders pertaining to writing techniques I would love for this to help me develop some habits - like maybe posting more frequently I want to develop my blog into, not only a place to keep family and friends up to date, but a place I can go back to in order to jog my not-so-spectacular-memory. First Day of 1st Grade

Bryan has been in school for 3 weeks now. He is having a great time in first grade and doing pretty well. He is loving the fact that he is a "veteran" student and knows his way around and what is expected of him. First Grade comes with a LOT of homework and tests and we've all come to realize that it is going to require a lot more effort on all of our parts to keep him ahead of the pack. They have mixed up what were the two Kinder. classes, so some of his friends are in his class and some are from the other K class from last year. It's great since he will get to know a lot more kids in his year.
